RED SEA – Saudi led Naval exercise

Saudi-led 7 nation naval exercise to start on Sunday.

Riyadh: The second edition of the naval military manoeuvres will be launched on Sunday in Saudi territorial waters.

Dubbed “Red Wave II”, the drill will be held a the area of operations of the Saudi Western Fleet in the Red Sea.

The Saudi Royal Naval Force will take part in the manoeuvres alongside naval forces from Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Djibouti, Yemen and Somalia.

The Saudi Royal Air Force and Border Guards will also participate in the seven-nation naval exercise.

The drills are intended to strengthen the maritime security of countries along the Red Sea; protect regional waters; enhance military co-operation; and exchange combat experience, according to Alriyadh.

Last December, Saudi Arabia and the other participant states announced the establishment of a coalition aimed at promoting political, economic and security co-operation.
