NIGERIA // ROSA piracy attack 190NM South of Lagos – 20/04/21

EVENT DESCRIPTION // On April 20^th, around 1825UTC, some 190NM South of Lagos, the Liberia-flagged container vessel ROSA (IMO: 9484534) was approached by one single speedboat. Container vessel increased speed and performed evasive manoeuvres with speedboat CPA 0.5NM. After about 1 hr the perpetrators left the area. Crew is reported to be safe.

The ROSA is owned by Marlow Navigation, Cyprus.

Update 21/04/21: Around 0925 UTC, some 160NM South of Lagos, a military vessel detected a speedboat with 9 pax onboard and piracy paraphernalia. The speedboat was likely involved in the approach and attempted boarding that occurred the day prior against the Liberia-flagged container vessel ROSA (IMO: 9484534). PAG is proceeding towards Nigerian shore, sailing South of Bonga towards Dodo River, following the intervention of the military vessel.
