EVENT DESCRIPTION // On March 11th, around 1512 UTC, some 220NM SSW of Lagos, the Malta-flagged chemical tanker DAVIDE B (IMO: 9721750) was boarded by 9 armed men. 15 crew members out of the 21 crew were kidnapped.

The DAVIDE B is managed by De Poli Shipmanagement, Netherlands.

Update 17-03-2021: De Poli Shipmanagement press release. De Poli Shipmanagement conveyed the news that the company has been able to establish contact with its 15 seafarers. According to available information all crew is in good conditions and negotiations are ongoing.

Update 11-04-2021: The 15 seafarers that were kidnapped from the DAVIDE B have been released on April 11th and brought to a safe location in Nigeria.

The seafarers have already been put in contact with their families in the Philippines, Russia, Latvia and Lithuania. All crew members were in a relatively good condition and undergoing medical checks prior to their imminent repatriation.
