EVENT DESCRIPTION // On November 7th, around 0643 UTC, approximately 173NM South of Cotonou, the Singapore-flagged tanker TORM ALEXANDRA (IMO: 9466001) was reported as boarded by an unknown number of attackers. Reports indicate that the crew, comprised of 21 seamen (Filipino and Montenegrin nationals), successfully mustered to the citadel and are safe.

It was later reported by the Italian Navy that their frigate MARTINENGO had intervened in rescue of the TORM ALEXANDRA after a distress call was received this morning. A unit of the Benin Navy has also been dispatched to assist and to intercept the PAG.

The attacked tanker is managed by TORM Singapore Pte Ltd.
