EVENT DESCRIPTION // On November 7th, around 1620 UTC, approximately 130NM South of Escravos the Marshall-Islands flagged tanker WESLEY (IMO: 8917924) reported being approached by a speed boat with 7 armed pirates onboard with CPA 250m.

The Master took evasive maneuvers while the crew safely mustered into the citadel. The onboard security team displayed their weapons and fired warning shots against the speedboat. The pirates subsequently aborted their boarding attempt and left the area.

The vessel and crew are reported as safe.

The tanker is operated by Union Maritime Limited, UK. The company runs a fleet of tankers focusing on the clean petroleum products trade in West Africa.
