The Nigerian Senate
The Senate Joint Committee on Navy, Marine Transport and Finance on the investigation on the legality or otherwise of the operations of the Ocean Marine Solutions Ltd; has confirmed the legality of the OMSL activities (Ocean Marine Solutions Limited) , even as it noted it as an indigenous organization which by virtue of the current Government’s vision, must be protected.
The 41 member joint committee also noted that the Navy presently needed about 150 vessels to sufficiently and effectively cover the totality of the nation’s vast waters, and pledged to increase the usual budgetary allocation of the Navy. Nonetheless, it endorses the current Nigerian Navy – OMSL accord, because it is patriotically needed, to keep the dreaded pirates, for whose reason the accord was born, at bay.

To come to such a vital, neutral and independent decision, they had to invite not fewer than nine relevant organizations, which included the NPA, OMSL, the Nigerian Navy, the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), the Ship Owners Association of Nigeria (SOAN), Nigeria Police, Nigerian Shippers Council and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), amongst others.
