NIGERIA // NEW RANGER piracy attack 203NM South of Lagos – 05/12/20

EVENT DESCRIPTION // On December 5^th, around 0655 UTC, approximately 203NM South of Lagos the Malta-flagged product tanker NEW RANGER (IMO: 9328326) was attacked by unknown perpetrators.

The attackers managed to board the vessel while the crew is reported to have retreated to the citadel. No further information is currently available. As of 0850 UTC the NEW RANGER has resumed her route SE. MDAT subsequently reported that the perpetrators had left the vessel and that the crew were safe.

The NEW RANGER is managed by Protank, Greece.
