NIGERIA – Bulk Carrier Attacked SW of Brass

A VIETNAM-FLAGGED BULK CARRIER WAS ATTACKED AND ALLEGEDLY BOARDED BY PIRATES

On December 30th, around 0150 LT, approximately 162NM SW of Brass, Nigeria, a Vietnam-flagged bulk carrier was attacked by armed men.

The bulk carrier was sailing  from  Cameroon to Liberia when the attack occurred. According to initial reports, Master took successful evasive manoeuvres, nevertheless, subsequent reports indicate that the vessel had possibly been boarded by pirates and part of the crew had mustered into the citadel. 

As informed in previous days, a PAG is operating in the southwestern sector of the Nigerian EEZ and beyond.  As per previous warnings, when sailing these areas, ALL crafts should be considered as potentially hostile.
