NIGERIA // On December 24th, around 0644 UTC, the Malta-flagged tanker ISTANBUL was approached and attacked, 212NM SW of Brass, Nigeria. Upon being approached the Master performed evasive maneuvers ultimately managing to deter the attack. It has been reported that crew is safe.
Unfortunately, this incident does not come as a surprise as we are expecting an increase in such type of event following the successful kidnappings of past weeks and the better sea conditions that are characterizing at the area in this period of the year.
