NIGERIA – Merchant vessel reported under attack within Nigerian waters

NIGERIA // A Singapore-flagged floating storage and production vessel was attacked in the early hours of July 2nd offshore Nigeria.

The attacked vessel was stationed in proximity of the Okwori Oilfield (approx. 35NM SW of Bonny) and was under the protection of a security escort vessel at the time of the attack.

According to initial statements, 9 crew members have been kidnapped.

The Nigerian authorities dispatched a fast patrol boat that reached the area in the hours following the incident to provide assistance.
